A new (to me) think tank

image

Love it. And then I looked closer and saw The Steamboat Institute. Steamboat? No, really? , could it be? So I looked them up, and found stuff like this ...

AN OPEN LETTER TO MAJORITY AMERICA

TO: Those who think both leading presidential candidates are dishonest and have little chance of leading America forward:

(…or, stated more simply)
TO: The majority of America:

Gotta love that. He writes a nice essay about how both Hillary and Teh Donald both suck, and says how we as a nation should demand better. It’s worth reading.

So, what is this Steamboat Institute place? Well, they give talks, hold symposiums, conferences, summits, help up and coming Conservatives meet and network ... they’re kind of community organizers for a broader community than just some neighborhood is some grubby city.

I’m sure I could go on and on, but if this is accurate, they sound like a voice I’d like to hear more from:

best bill ever ever ever

This isn’t just a shot across the bow.  It’s more like a multi-ship broadside. I wish there was a way to show this in every urban school in America. Twice a day.

Some of the things he says, you might not like hearing AT ALL. Too bad. As he says, “Don’t believe me? Look it up.”

Bill Whittle on the Democrats, from beginnings to somewhere near the end.

I hope this video is just a preamble, and that he takes the time to put out a weekly history lesson to expand on these points to considerable depth. It takes a lot more than 12 minutes to cover 175 years worth of duplicity. Heck, even I could speak for 10 minutes on the Copperheads, which he barely even alludes to here. And I still think McClellan was one of them, but he was a bit more pragmatic than most.

I’d explode with happiness if he did the whole series of videos with the able assistance of SCOTUS justice Antonin Scalia, but some things may just have to remain fantasies. Sadly, as far as I know, this is not the plan, and this is the only Pin The Tale vid that there’s going to be. Watch it anyway.

and here comes the next hat

Rand Paul is on TV right now, putting his hat in the ring to announce that he will be a Republican candidate for 2016.

He’s giving a pretty good speech. “A New America” I guess would be the theme. Tune in. Or Tube in, later.

Fock Snooze Link

“The enemy is radical Islam. You can’t get around that.” Gosh, honest talk.

read me txt

Rodger put up a link to Senator Lee’s new book, Our Lost Constitution, the same one I’ve just finished reading a pre-release copy of.

It’s information, enlightening, angering, and rather saddening.

My favorite part is how he shows how Obama broke the law dozens of times with ObamaCare, even after it was passed into law. And how Roberts legislated from the bench, changing the wording/meaning.

And FDR trying to pack the Supreme Court.

And the Second Amendment, from the blackwash that was Miller, to the idiocy of Burger and generations of willful stupidity, to the awakening that was Heller.

Even the warrant-less spying on the American people, and how much that parallels England’s hero John Wilkes under old King George. ( betcha you Yanks didn’t know that England nearly had a revolution at almost the same time we did, didja? )

Not everything is in there, but plenty is. It’s a worthy read.

Here’s the link.

Now let’s pass my copy around. Time to put the word out. Who wants to read it first? Wardmama? Send me your address and I’ll pop it in the mail.

Light ‘em Up

Ted Cruz has released his campaign logo. I love it. I get it. Liberals, of course, don’t get it, and are mocking it left and right.

Naturally, the timeless metaphors of a single candle are lost on them. And they were the ones with “HOPE” !

Maybe if there were 999 more points of light, illuminating a shining city on a hill, they’d get it then? Nah. They’d just have more to mock.

Another Good Read

One of the perks - or perils, sometimes - of running a Conservative blog is that I get approached by the publishing companies to review new Conservative literature. I’m not always interested in what they have to offer, but sometimes I bite. And sometimes what they send me is a real gem. I think that’s the case with the latest, Utah Senator Mike Lee’s Our Lost Constitution, a short (256 pages) concise reminder of the importance of several pieces of that document that appear to be being ignored, how that has lead to the federal government running amok, and how the Legislative Branch can fix things. If they have the nuts to do so. The book hits the shelves in 15 days. I’ve had a few copies of it for 3 days now, and my wife and I have been reading and discussing it constantly.

image

I gather the book is dividing into two parts: What’s Wrong, and How To Fix It. I haven’t got to the second part yet, but I’m really looking forward to it. Senator Lee writes in a very straightforward manner, explaining what a certain part of the Constitution is all about, and then shows how Washington has messed things up by doing an end run, by over-delegation, or by simply flouting the rules and getting away with it.

The past year’s political news stories have been such a dung heap that I’ve had to stop paying attention to most of them. It’s all bad, all of it. I was giving myself an ulcer, metaphorically, spending so much time on these horrid tales and working myself into a tizzy. Senator Lee’s book is helping me de-stress my distress, letting me play Constitutional Whack-a-Mole ... “this bit of legislation is wrong because of Section XYZ; it’s unconstitutional, so throw it out” and then move on. The problem is, that Mole Mallet can swat nearly everything that DC has generated in the past decade or two. Under Obama andBush. And Clinton.

If Senator Lee isn’t the greatest Tea Party elected official ever, then he must be in the top ten. Top five. Please Lord, don’t let this good man get DC Disease.

Our Lost Constitution would make a superb adjunct text to any high school Civics, Constitutional Law, or Social Studies class. And it will get you fired up again. It sure has around our house.

I’ll keep you posted as I get deeper into this one.

Pre-order from Amazon.

Before It’s News has their take, didn’t read the book yet, but provides some background on Senator Lee.

Ann Sees The Light

Wow. Amazing. Next thing you know she’ll be attending Tea Party rallies and talking about birth certificates.

It’s as if ... she’s had an epiphany. An awakening. Republican majority in the House and the Senate and still, it’s just business as usual.

What did you expect Ann? Did you really think the GOP Old Boys Club was going to do the right thing? Be assertive? Be aggressive? Be Americans?  Oh hell to the no. Girl, where you been at? They is the system, just like the Donkey Squad.

A few excerpts from her latest to give you the gist of it ...

GOP DOUBLE-CROSSING TRAITORS

Now that a federal judge has held Obama’s illegal executive amnesty unconstitutional, perhaps U.S. senators will remember that they swore to uphold the Constitution, too.
Back when they needed our votes before the last election, Republicans were hairy-chested warriors, vowing to block Obama’s unconstitutional “executive amnesty”—if only voters gave them a Senate majority. The resulting Republican landslide suggested some opposition to amnesty.
...

Since at least 2006, voters have insistently told pollsters they don’t want amnesty. Seemingly bulletproof Republican congressmen have lost their seats over amnesty. President Bush lost the entire House of Representatives over amnesty. What else do we have to do to convince you we don’t want amnesty, Republicans? Make it a host on “The View”?
...

To gin up votes, “Republican insiders” told the Washington Examiner last fall that “the results of the midterm elections” would determine how “aggressive” the GOP would be in fighting Obama’s amnesty.
Voters gave you a blow-out victory, Republicans. You cleaned their clocks. (Have you seen Harry Reid lately?) Where’s that promised aggression on amnesty?
Republicans and George Will tell us they can’t stand up to Obama’s executive amnesty because the media are unfair.
Oh, well, in that case ... never mind.
...

Tell voters what the media won’t: that Obama’s “amnesty” will give illegal aliens Social Security cards and three years of back-payments through the Earned Income Tax Credit, even though they never paid taxes in the first place.
Could we get a poll on that: Should the government issue work permits to illegal aliens and give them each $25,000 in U.S. taxpayer money? I promise you, Obama would lose that vote by at least 80-20. Even people vaguely supportive of not hounding illegal aliens out of the country didn’t sign up to open the U.S. Treasury to them.
...

If a Republican majority in both houses of Congress can’t stop Obama from issuing illegal immigrants Social Security cards and years of back welfare payments, there is no reason to vote Republican ever again.

So Annie, how do you like your Tea? One lump, or two?

Commiting A Clothing Crime In UK

Peiper, You’d Better Turn That Hoodie Inside Out Right Now!

image

Britain First leader Paul Golding found guilty of harassment and wearing a political uniform

THE leader of a far-right nationalist group has been found guilty of harassing the sister of man linked to the London tube bombings this afternoon (January 5).

Britain First chairman Paul Golding was also found guilty of wearing a political uniform signifying association with a political organisation.

The trial at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court heard that Golding allegedly harassed Munazza Munawar from outside her home in Hepburn Close, Chafford Hundred on April 3 last year.

They wrongly thought it was the home of her brother Sajeel Shahid, who is said to have trained the ringleader of the 7/7 bombings in London.

On that day, Golding also wore a political uniform in the form of a Britain First members only jacket, which is an offence under the Public Order Act 1936.

Finding him guilty on both charges, District Judge David Woollard said: “It was a political stunt which was designed to further the cause of the party and to generate the kind of material which is later placed on the Britain First website.”

He fined him £325 for harassment and £100 for wearing the political uniform.

Statement from Britain First

Paul Golding has been found guilty of the trumped up charges of “harassment” and “wearing political uniforms”.

These ridiculous, politically motivated and heavily bias decisions bring shame upon the legal system and should worry those who genuinely desire an impartial judiciary to protect our sovereign rights.

Only a few weeks ago, hate preacher Anjem Choudary won the right to preach his bile in public despite a long list of arrests and links to terrorism.

Today, Paul Golding was found guilty of knocking on a terrorist’s door - you couldn’t make it up.

There was a key admission from a witness statement today in that a neighbour admitted and confirmed that terror boss Sajeel Shahid regularly attended the address in question.

Nevertheless, Paul Golding was still found guilty.

On the uniforms charge (only the third conviction since 1936) the judge even asked the prosecution if someone wearing a Conservative T-shirt could now be found guilty of breaking the law.

The icing on the cake, however, was the judge’s adamant refusal to even consider slapping an ASBO on Paul, which he rejected out of hand.

The judge even went as far as to describe the ridiculous and oppressive terms of the ASBO as “extreme”.

An ASBO - Anti-Social Behavior Order - is something like a judicial Time Out. It’s akin to an official finger wagging and a frown, and carries less legal weight than even a restraining order.

Free expression be damned; in the UK, even your clothing is a crime if “we” don’t like what it says. Right, even if the “political expression” is merely a symbol, not even a statement or a slogan. Just a symbol.

And you’re busted

When Britain first, at heaven’s command,

Arose from out the azure main,

This was the charter of the land,

And Guardian Angels sang this strain:

Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!

Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

The nations not so blessed as thee

Must, in their turn, to tyrants fall,

While thou shalt flourish great and free:

The dread and envy of them all.

Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!

Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

Turn off the lights and lock the door on your way out. It’s over, over there.

Falling In Like

image

I don’t subscribe to Glenn Beck’s ,The Blaze TV channel. I don’t even stop by to read The Blaze every day, and I ought to. It’s pretty darn good.

But I heard this young woman this morning on Fox News, while I was out in the kitchen putting together my coffee, and I found myself fairly impressed with what she had to say. Then I came out to the living room and saw who was doing the talking. Horry Kow!! Ellison Barber, a fairly recent graduate of the excellent little Wofford College in Spartanburg SC, is a journalist for The Washington Free Beacon, an online newspaper that bears looking into. She also has a frequent column at The Blaze, and is a regular guest opinionator on Fox News. So it’s a fair guess she’s at least a bit on the Conservative side.  rolleyes  And smart, and sharp as a tack. Love it.

But my goodness, ain’t she also insanely good looking?

I personally don’t buy the IRS’s “dog ate my homework” BS that they lost 2 full years of Lerner’s emails. B.  S.  And there isn’t a computer network manager anywhere in the world who buys it either. Horse. Hockey. Plus, this is the government. They have all the money in the world for the greatest and latest digital systems. Daily backups, incremental backups, constant snapshots. RAID. Mirrors. Islanding. Plus it’s all but impossible for just one person’s email to evaporate. Your computer crashed? Who cares? You only have a copy of them; they live on the server. Forever. And if all the email of the whole damn office was going bye-bye on a regular basis, they would have had a team of IT wonks in working on it instantly, 2 years minus 2 hours ago. Better yet, it’s nearly impossible to go in to a system like that and “accidentally” kill one person’s email and not leave muddy footprints everywhere. Even assuming they could also track down and eliminate every single branch email - all the people that got CCed and BCCed on whatever mail she participated in - even if they could do that, every last backup file, data island, and even tape mount has an automatic access log with a time stamp and an authorization code on it. And the systems that run the data silos have usage logs too. So it’s utter crap. Any IT wonk could go into that system, and in an hour tell you who did the deletions and when. Assuming they were actually done, and Lerner’s email did really get wiped. Personally, I expect they’re on a portable HD in the drawing room side table, right next to Hillary’s Whitewater papers that nobody could find for 7 years.

Total Shenanigans. Arrest her, arrest the entire IT staff of the IRS, arrest their management chain, and throw them all in jail for Contempt of Congress. And let them rot. Fire the whole damn bunch and start proceedings to fine them every last cent of their life assets. Someone will talk. They ain’t the boss of us: WE ARE THE BOSS OF THEM. Public SERVANTS. Get it? Not one keystroke they make, not one Post-It used, not one swish of a white board marker, that shouldn’t be open to public scrutiny on demand. And Congress IS the demand that makes it go.

This is the Lie Of The Year, just as big, just as blatant as “If you like your doctor/medical plan, you can keep it.”

I owe no allegiance to liars.

I may have found the perfect candidate

He Even Has Good Hair

Self-made businessman David Larsen is running for Congress here in New Jersey, entering in the primary in hopes of unseating incumbent “Republican” Leonard Lance. I’ve met the fellow twice now, he came around to my door doing his hustings. And we’re going down to his open meeting next week. I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming.

Here he is, his platform as a Reagan Republican. Which is how he introduces himself. Oooh, be still my beating heart.

Dave Larsen on the Issues

Congressional candidate David Larsen doesn’t hesitate to explain where he stands on the issues. “A man is defined by how he keeps his word,” says Larsen. “If elected to Congress I will be asked to take the following oath of office: ‘I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.’ I intend to uphold that oath every minute of every day that I am in office.”

PRO-LIFE: Protect the sanctity of innocent human life from conception to natural death.

FIREARMS: Protect the Second Amendment right to bear arms and defend our families and property. Promote our strong sporting heritage.

GOVERNMENT: The size and scope of the federal government ought to be reduced to those powers and responsibilities specifically enumerated in the Constitution and the federal budget reduced accordingly.

NATIONAL SECURITY: President Reagan correctly pointed out that no nation was ever attacked because it was too strong. One of the prime responsibilities of our government is to defend our nation.  At the same time, we must not sacrifice our Constitutional rights in the pursuit of greater security. David Larsen will work to make sure we maintain our military supremacy.  We must also remember and take care of those that fought and sacrificed on our behalf.  We must stand with those nations that stand with us and are aligned with our beliefs. We must not cede any aspect of our sovereignty to an outside entity.

CUT SPENDING: Over the years, numerous studies have been commissioned on how to cut wasteful spending and balance our budget.  Time after time, little or nothing is done after these commissions post their reports indicating ways to save billions of dollars.  The first place David Larsen will work to end wasteful government spending will be by pushing these cuts Congress already knows about. He will vigilantly oppose wasteful spending by both parties and work towards the enactment of a balanced budget amendment where taxes cannot be raised without the approval of a super majority in both chambers of Congress.

CREATE JOBS: David understands that government does not create productive jobs and subsidies do not drive innovation.  From the Victrola to Compact Discs to the iPhone, technological developments that improved our everyday lives came from individuals and companies that had an idea, took a risk, and worked to make their vision a reality. They did not come from a government bureaucrat deciding which products or industries should be favored over others. The United States did not become the greatest nation in history by adopting the kind of five year plans used by the old USSR. Today, regulations and mandates stifle innovation and drive jobs overseas.  Many of the shackles government has placed on the free market must be removed. This will unleash Americans’ natural creativity and industriousness. We must also allow the successful to reap what they sowed. Punitive taxation and rules that create artificial limits must end.  Once the business climate becomes more accommodating, the jobs will become more plentiful.

REFORM TAXES: David Larsen will fight for a just and simplified tax system that does not discourage innovation or encourage the government to gamble with American’s hard-earned money, but a policy that fuels productivity and fosters American Prosperity for All.

ENERGY INDEPENDENCE OPTIONS: Our nation has been blessed with abundant natural energy resources. Unfortunately, some who believe they know better have placed much of these resources off-limits. I believe all paths towards providing the energy we need must be facilitated. However, there should be no subsidies. The marketplace will determine which companies and businesses are viable and which are not, which are better, and what is the fair price for their goods and services.  Energy independence is essential to America’s future as an economic world leader and critical to its security. Exploring and utilizing our native resources will not only lead us to energy independence, but it will create many jobs directly and indirectly.  Additionally, our nation will benefit by reduced costs since there is an energy component to the price of virtually all things. Lastly, exploration on federal lands will produce a revenue stream via royalties that can be used to pay down our mounting debt.

REPEAL & DEFUND OBAMACARE: I strongly oppose any and all health care reforms that take away patients’ ability to make their own health care decisions and rob business of the ability to create jobs. If the U.S. Supreme Court upholds Obamacare in whole or in part, I will work to eliminate any vestige of it that exists in our tax code or regulations.

IMMIGRATION: Stop illegal immigration through enforcement of immigration laws and better control of our borders.

THE FEDERAL RESERVE: Since its creation, the Federal Reserve Bank has devalued the American dollar.  In recent years, the policy of Quantitative Easing has been used by the Fed to print trillions of extra dollars, creating an imminent threat of hyper-inflation.  This policy of government created inflation is a hidden tax on the American citizen, silently robbing Americans of their wealth by diminishing the value of their savings.  At the same time, the Fed has resisted all attempts by Congress to audit its books, in order that it be made accountable to the American people.  It is time to audit the Fed and, if necessary, to dissolve the Federal Reserve Bank and return the power of printing money to the Department of the Treasury, under the supervision of an elected Congress.

I embrace the governing principles that our Founding Fathers staked their lives, their fortune, and their sacred honor for so that we might live as a free people. Unlike today’s politicians, these were men of politics – as well as philosophers and visionaries. The limited federal government our Founders established created a civil society governed by the rule of law and unleashed, for the first time in history, the incredible potential of man through the mechanism of the Free Market.  Working with limited constraints, it took just over 150 years for Americans to create the greatest economic force in the world. Our explosive growth, fueled by technological innovation, raised the standard of living far beyond anything previously envisioned or experienced, anywhere.

But all of that has changed: in the past four years alone, the federal government has expanded the scope of its power, the size of its bureaucracy and the amount of its debt to levels that defy comprehension. Americans today are literally being regulated to death as business shut down and people lose their jobs.  Regulations and taxation are roadblocks that discourage the efforts of entrepreneurs and investors. They cause unnecessarily high costs for products and services leading to a slowdown in demand and, ultimately, lost jobs. Today we outsource our jobs…tomorrow we may end up outsourcing the future of the American workforce – our own children.

For most of our short history as a nation, we have enjoyed the benefits of a limited federal government. The American people were free to pursue life, liberty, and happiness as they, themselves, defined it.  Our economy flourished and our society was considerate.  It can be that way again. American history shows that there is no greater force for economic expansion than the absence of government interference.

He’s also in favor of term limits too. And English as our official language.  And marriage being a thing between a man and a woman. And in reasonable environmental rules but not at the expense of liberty. And a strong foreign policy supporting our traditional allies and friends. And having secure borders. And having a selective immigration policy, not the blind open door model we have these days. And in making efforts to get those recent immigrants to assimilate and become new Americans.

Oh, and he has the endorsement of plenty of big name Conservative groups and talking heads, from Gun Owners of America to The American Conservative Union to Michael Reagan and Conservative Talk Radio host Steve Malzberg to several Tea Party groups and PACs in the area.

Find out more ... David Larsen for Congress dot com.

It’s not that NJ doesn’t have real Republicans ... we just have trouble getting them elected. Steve Lonnagon was 10 times the Conservative that Chris Christie is. But he pretty much managed to get my vote, and my wife’s vote, and that’s about it. Larsen doesn’t seem to be bringing any of Teh Crazee to the table at all.

And Lennie Lance has got to go. For a “centrist Conservative” he seems to vote in lock step with Obama’s policies nearly all the time. RINO much?? chaa!!

Samizdat Saturday: Totalitarianism, Neo-Puritanism, and a kick ass video from Bill Whittle

Hey, what more could you want?

If you didn’t already see this over at Rodger’s, here’s your weekend Must-Read/Listen.

And I mean it. I really really do. Even if you won’t spare 4 minutes to read the first essay, or 8 minutes to read the second one, at least play the Bill Whittle video and listen to it. There’s very little to see, but it’s imperative that you hear what’s being said.

In the first section of Part 1, Ed Driscoll writes and quotes on how a bunch of grumpy, constipated, ex-Nazi commies started the ball rolling that gave rise to the latest form of totalitarianism: repressive tolerance, whose evils we have witnessed at least twice in just the past couple of weeks

a spirit of puritanism of opinion is abroad. This puritanism is not puritanical in the old sense. On the contrary, it is inclined to attach itself to libertinism. But it wants to send to Coventry all those who think that the removal of restraints on conduct is not necessarily a good thing. It brands them as ... bigots ... for holding the wrong opinions.

Thus are created what one might call microclimates of totalitarianism in which people live in fear: fear of losing their jobs, fear of social ostracism for having said or even thought the wrong thing.
...
The new puritans, viewing themselves as tolerant, would be prepared to repress the intolerant—by definition, those with whom they disagree. Thus does repressive tolerance come to have a real meaning in our time. As Herbert Marcuse’s favorite philosopher, Hegel, said: The owl of Minerva takes wing at dusk.

In the second section of Part 1, same link, page 2, Bill Whittle fires off a red hot broadside tracing this history again, along with it’s madness.

In Part 2, Jack Cashill has a mid-size essay up at American Thinker all about “The Suffocatiing Neo-puritanism of Progressive America”.

Which is exactly what it sounds like: We heard for decades how we had to be ever so understanding of the beliefs and feelings of various outcast groups. We had to tolerate them. And when that wasn’t enough, we had to venerate them. That too soon wasn’t enough, and now, not only do we have to worship them and bow to their omnipotence and genius (eg, ref. “wise latina"), we now are guilty of hate crimes even if our opinions differ in private. Get your Scarlet Letter on Hester; wear it in shame.

Celebrity chef Paula Deen did not commit the sin of racism; she is a “racist.” She must forever wear the Scarlet R, just as Mozilla’s Brendan Eich must wear the Scarlet H for “homophobe,” and activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali wears the Scarlet I for “Islamophobe.” From the Neo-Puritan perspective, nothing else counts; that letter is their identity.

The cult’s clerics add new sins regularly and new sinners daily. Of late, in addition to Eich and Hirsi Ali, Cliven Bundy, Phil Robertson, even Alec Baldwin have joined the ranks of the damned. Hawthorne described his seventeenth century ancestors as “being of the most intolerant brood that ever lived,” but these “little Puritans” had nothing on the big ones that would flourish four centuries later.

Read these. Learn from these. Spread the word. Share the links.

We are teetering on the very last, final, one remaining splinter on the edge of the bottomless abyss. You’ve seen what happened to these people in the news. You saw how lightning fast the brainless herd turned against them; worse even you’ve seen how just as quickly those who styled themselves shepherds also turned (eg Fox News’ Sean Hannity). You saw how statements and beliefs, a thousand times worse than these newly burned modern “witches” ever had, were encouraged and applauded from the far Left by the far Left ... it’s a one way street, and it always has been. Now that there’s a hundred car pileup in the cul-de-sac, can we finally get people to stop turning into this dead end?? And then insisting on pressing down on the gas????

Is there a ray of hope, anywhere? Either on the horizon or at the end of this long dark tunnel?

Well, maybe ...

The very success of Neo-Puritanism, however, may be its undoing. Each spectacular new public burning reveals just how empty and oppressive the movement is at its heart. For instance, in exposing Sterling the media have unwittingly shone light on Al Sharpton and the NAACP.

In fact, the NAACP banquet that was to honor Sterling for lifetime achievement was to honor Al Sharpton as “Man of the Year.” This was the same Sharpton who dissed the work of “Socrates and them Greek homos”; the same Sharpton who instigated the lethal Crown Heights pogrom with the rallying cry, “If Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house”; and yes, the same Al Sharpton who said of Sterling, “No one should be allowed to own a team if they have in fact engaged in this kind of racial language.”

But as always, the light only shines if you can get the willfully blind to open the eyes they pretend they don’t even have. And society provides eyelid epoxy, because to explain the falsity of Al “Tawana Brawley” Sharpton, just this one example, is a heinous act of hatred and racism.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
